Re: poems of the topic love and pain...
Sparrow:
I saw a little sparrow,
fall from her tree nest.
With her tiny weak claws,
she could not hold fast.
Helpless there she lay,
unable to fly as yet.
When from across the way,
came neighbors cat, his pet.
I rose from my lawnchair,
and ran to chase him away.
For fear Felix would claim,
and end the sparrows day.
Reaching down I gently,
placed sparrow in my hand.
Putting her back in the nest,
was my intended plan.
To this day I know not,
how that sparrow did fair.
When peeking in next day,
I found sparrow not there.
Every time I see that tree,
I think about that sparrow.
Did she live to learn to fly,
and survive to see the marrow?
