Hot Flash from Houston
I just attended a two hour engineering meeting in our conference room. One of the attendees was (THE) Chris Craft of NASA Mission Control Room fame. I got to speak to him briefly and shake his hand.
And no, I haven't washed it yet.

I share the feeling: I got to meet Gene Kranz at a book signing in Manhattan. Who'd have thunk that a flat-top would be so sexy?
Now Glyn Lunney is the real cutie pie from Mission Control though...

Helzapoppin!
I've been out sick for three days, which is why I haven't recorded any whistling. Feeling much better this afternoon. Gwen and I were supposed to sign the papers on our NEW HOUSE today, but the mortgage company didn't get all the paperwork done, and so now it has to happen late next week. [sigh] It's an historical house, built in 1898, has 1240 sq feet, nice big yard with mature trees. Pictures will follow.

Took Gwen, my darlin' wife, to see Rod Stewart in concert last night at the Toyota Center in downtown Houston. It was awesome.

Re: What's Goin On in Our Real Lives
This Sunday I am leaving on a business trip to Leiden, Netherlands. I will be working some long hours during the week, but I will have the weekend to do some sight seeing before my trip home. Any suggestions of what to see while I am there? (aside from the red light district)

Ack. I wish I had the chance to come down and have some whiskey with you in the excellent scotch bar downtown Leiden...
Anyway, you most certainly want to wander around the shopping district around the canal, it's full of small stores etc. I was there last spring but the weather was pretty bad so I spent most of my time in the above mentioned place.
I didn't know there was a red light district in Leiden, but you might wanna go in to Amsterdam for that (and for other reasons, it's a great city). The train takes you there pretty fast I think.

Me, too! I loved Amsterdam.
See the Reichsmuseum,
and next door to that, the van Gogh Museum.
Not far from that is Fondel Park, beautiful in the spring!!!!
Within a stone's throw of the red light area is
a restaurant called, die Gelege Angel
or close to that. "comforting angel" is a close translation.
Stay away from the so-called "coffee shops" near
Rembrandt Park. They're full of loud, obnoxious Americans.

Re: What's Goin On in Our Real Lives
You guys might want to see the new (old) house that Gwen and I have moved into. It is 1250 square feet. Two bedrooms, two baths. One bedroom is the library/computer room. Nice big kitchen. Built-in cat door!! Nice back yard with old, old trees. The house is considered an "historical home" in League City, Texas, as it was originally built in 1898.
Take a look. Pix.
