Re: What's Goin On in Our Real Lives
I was supposed to go to Ireland and Australia this summer, but the stupid Department of State is backlogged, and it isn't looking like I'll get my passport for 3 months.
Since I'm "grounded", as it were, I've been going to DC multiple times a week. Fun... but getting kind of old. Looks like I'll be going again tomorrow or Saturday.

Major bummer!
I just finished exams and now have a breather for a few weeks before the second semester begins
I will be taking 3 main units next semester:
ASP202 - Introductory Astrophysics
Synopsis:
Processes of star and planet formation; celestial mechanics; tides, accretion disks; solar system formation; extra-solar planets; the Sun; interiors of stars and the main sequence; post main sequence evolution; degenerate remnants; the Milky Way; the nature of galaxies; active galaxies; particles and cosmic rays.
MTH203 - Ordinary Differential Equations
Synopsis:
The study of Models of physical problems particularly heat conduction and oscillations, using computer simulation, laboratory experiments and mathematical analysis. Computer algorithms and mathematical techniques for ordinary differential equations using Euler and Predictor-Corrector methods with exact solutions found using separation of variables, integrating factors and substitution methods. The partial differential equations for material transport, heat conduction and wave motion are derived using physical models and solved using separation of variables and computational algorithms. Applications are to wave motion and heat conduction in a variety of practical situations.
PHS202
Synopsis:
(1) Electromagnetism: Maxwell's equations in integral and differential form; electromagnetic waves; applications of electromagnetism. (2) Optics: Geometric optics; polarization; birefringence; optical fibres; interferometry; diffraction. (3) AC Theory and Analogue Electronics: Complex impedance; phasors; resonant circuits; transistors; signal amplification; operational amplifiers; modulation techniques. (4) Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics: First and second laws of thermodynamics; entropy and disorder; phase transitions; introduction to statistical physics concepts.
Should be a good semester

Yeah, we tried that. It's still backlogged, and even "expedited" would most likely take right up until school starts.
Not a good idea to miss a couple weeks of school for international travel.

Oooohhhh, they make it sound soooooo much more fun than when I took it from a brilliant but unbelievably odd math professor who spoke German much better than he spoke English....I envy you....

Re: What's Goin On in Our Real Lives
Later today I leave on my first "real" vacation in a very long time. I am driving the family to New Jersey where the boys will spend some time with their aunts and cousins while celtfaery and I spend a week in Paris. I am extremely excited. I will have my computer with me because I don't have time off from school, but I don't think I will be spending any time surfing Hypo.
See y'all in August!

Ahhh Paris!!! i heard they have a super sewage treatment system. but, i have an idea (as if) since you won't be in contact with Hypography, you can put Hypography in contact with France. Here's the plan>> make up some little cards with nothing on them but Hypography.com, and leave them discretely around Grand Paris. or not.
my real Paris life is living vicariously through you & celtfairy on this one; don't screw it up for us. can you guys wink at some Frenchies randomly and report their responses?
PS ixnay on da inkway; might be offensive or something. however on the cards, i have amendment. make only 4 cards, 2 for each of you...each represents one wing on a butterfly...this makes you two the flappers of chaos as you each choose randomly where & when to leave your cards in Paris. bon voyage.
