Study shows that THC helps lung cancer tumors from spreading in mice.
Thought I would share! Really interesting. |

| | | Re: THC cuts tumor growth in mice! i think people have been talking about the possibly of thc reducing cancerous tumors. too bad the studies will probably always get ignored because THC is a psychotropic substance. kind of like how therapists in the 70's used the drug MDMA during sessions due to its effects, and the US government outlawed the drug regardless because its "fit specifications outlined by the 1971 Misuse Drug Act: Quote: |

However this link contradicts the US Department of Justice classification table [6]. Before then, it was used both as an adjunct to psychotherapy and as a recreational drug. MDMA began to be used therapeutically in the mid-1970s after the chemist Alexander Shulgin introduced it to psychotherapist Leo Zeff. As Zeff and others spread word about MDMA, it developed a reputation for enhancing communication, reducing psychological defenses, and increasing capacity for introspection. However, no formal measures of these putative effects were made and blinded or placebo-controlled trials were not conducted. A small number of therapists—including George Greer, Joseph Downing, and Philip Wolfson—used it in their practices until it was made illegal. | despite recent speculation speculation now that the drug is useful fighting parkinsons disease, there is little hope that the drug will ever be legal to use, even by Ph. D.'s. i can only think that the drug Marijuana will never be legal for basically the same reasons. especially with its current reputation as a gateway drug.

One point from your article I think everyone should recall is the method of administration. Certainly smoking it would negate any lung cancer resolution the THC itself offers. Quote: |

There was also about a 60 percent reduction in cancer lesions on the lungs in these mice as well as a significant reduction in protein markers associated with cancer progression, Preet says.
Although the researchers do not know why THC inhibits tumor growth, they say the substance could be activating molecules that arrest the cell cycle. They speculate that THC may also interfere with angiogenesis and vascularization, which promotes cancer growth.
Preet says much work is needed to clarify the pathway by which THC functions, and cautions that some animal studies have shown that THC can stimulate some cancers. "THC offers some promise, but we have a long way to go before we know what its potential is," she said. | |

Once again, let's put emphasis on the Fact that Smoke Is Bad
THC is good |

But the distinction between cancer therapy via THC injections and recreational use of THC needs to be perfectly clear. It is not a miracle drug, it is a complex chemical with a broad spectrum of effects both positive and negative.
Legality is perfectly relevant. Saying otherwise doesn't help change that fact. How can you take action to change things toward the world you would like to see? One way would be to present solid facts as you did above and separate that effort from bucking authority. It hurts your argument about legal therapy when you roll it up with a broader legalization agenda.

The mice no longer feel like they are dying.
THC might give them hope, generating positivity, generating the ability to self heal? |

I don't believe in miracles.
I do believe in the healing potential of THC, though. |
