Re: Stress and back pain

Lots of folks "tighten up" under stress. That is, they retain incremental flex in key muscle groups during stress episodes. Commonly, folks will keep their shoulders slightly raised a couple of millimeters, or their head tilted forward, or their chin up. These posture anomalies probably cause tension headaches in some folks.

Others adjust their body posture and put stress on the lumbar spine. In particular if your tummy muscles are weak, this can really stress your back.

Some folks can train themselves to notice the aberrent posture and stop the behavior. For bad backs, tummy exercizes almost always help whether you adjust posture or not.

Re: Stress and back pain

I agree with Biochemist...
Stress is related to a certain group of hormones, and the cause the constricting and tightinging of certain muscels...thats why some people tharsh about or scream when stressed...they feel tight and pulled in. Back pain, caused by stress is simply your muscels are nice and tight and your moving around a little to much for those tight muscels...so relax
Stress can kill...literaly!
