excuse the rather non-scientific aspect of my post....not that i am ever that scientific....but i am still in shock.
There was a case in the UK where somebody with cancer of the brain, gave up and accepted he was going to die, only to find when he went back several months later that the tumour had disappeared (Doug Healy, article in UK's Daily Mail, 2008). Then there is the case of Jacob Simpson (Daily Mail article, 2009), who suffered severe head injuries as a child and recovered to live a normal life, despite the mother being told he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. It all appears to be mind over matter as with hypnosis, which kept resurfacing and being dismissed over the centuries.

There was a case here, fairly recently, where a guy was given three months to live with an inoperable cancer.
Three months later he dutifully died.
The autopsy found no evidence of any cancer at all.

Another iatrogenic--'bone pointing'-- death?

Yes, strange that makes you wonder if the pain is mightier than the word or where there's a will there's a death? Certainly mind over matter

Somers' new target: conventional cancer treatment

By JOCELYN NOVECK (AP) – Oct 19, 2009

EDITOR'S NOTE: Ten years and $2.5 billion in research have found no cures from alternative medicine. Yet these mostly unproven treatments are now mainstream and used by more than a third of all Americans. This is one in an occasional series examining their use and potential risks.

___

NEW YORK (AP) — Suzanne Somers is at it again.

Less than a year after the former sitcom actress frustrated mainstream doctors (and cheered some fans) by touting bioidentical hormones on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," she's back with a new book. This one's on an even more emotional topic: Cancer treatment. Specifically, she argues against what she sees as the vast and often pointless use of chemotherapy.

Somers, who has rejected chemo herself, seems to relish the fight.
