Why then do they go on about 'The Sacred Heart of Jesus' which I think refers to his Love?

Because... It refers to his love... Not his muscle .
The people weren't thinking about "His Sacred Muscle" as a source of love... They were thinking about the metaphric relationship the heart shares with love .

You must remember that before modern medicine uncovered the fact that, the seat of emotion lay in the brain, it was believed that the heart was the place where all feelings were generated.

(An evangelist who was trying to recruit me said I was Hard Hearted and I'm assuming he got this expression from the Bible!)
