Back in the 60's-70's, MJ was part of the alternate reality associated with eastern mysticism. This amounts to right hemisphere thinking. The young people became increasingly rooted in the right hemisphere and the adults in the left hemisphere resulting in the generation gap. The slogan was don't trust anyone over 30. The barrier slowly dissolved until culture once again became predominantly left hemisphere with social taboos on right hemisphere inductions like MJ.
I have found myself coming up with similair explainations for the behavioral/mental differences between someone who uses entheogens and someone who doesn't.

I've acknowledged the balance for a while now. Yin-yang.
And I've acknowledged that it is best to stay as nuetral as possible- find the middle ground- stay as balanced as possible.

Dabble in everything- try everything atleast once. only use as often as you feel comfortable while simultaneously making sure that how often you feel comfortable using is not harmful to yourself or others. Never get hooked to anything.

There is some research that shows that when the brain is growing almost any foreign substance alcohol, MJ, drugs, anti-depressants can be harmful.
Studies on adolescence--the "teen" years-- has found this; and it is probably true of the foetus too.

This idea begs the question is is possible a foreign substance could actually improve some functions of the Brain, and if this is possible could it be that in our civilized world we are being exposed to substances that are driving our own adaptation to a civilized social existence. Could mind altering substances have contributed to our rise to being what we are? MJ was one of the first psychological substances used by humans possibly predated only by mushrooms found in the dung piles of our domesticated animals. If not for "mind expanding chemicals" could it be we would still be roaming bands of hunter gatherers?
