Don't worry about me. I was just worried that you had lost the information as to where these posts are supposed to be. If you guys can get it all back to the old structure without any help, a few days isn't going to upset me.

Thanks for your concern -- Dick

PS, you can delete our conversation if you wish as the issue seems pretty well contained.

We have 15 people going through it almost constantly, so threads are being moved back.

The reason the forum is hidden is simply that we need to stop people from posting in the threads while we move them, in order to avoid all kinds of silly database issues!

If you remember the thread titles (or anything close) I'll be happy to pull those threads out.

I am afraid that most all of my posts were in the “Philosophy of Science” thread which was apparently moved to sociology in its entirety. Last night, I was still able to find my posts through the “Find all posts by Doctordick” link but now only that single post which someone has fixed appears (probably due to your removal of the “sociology section”). I was looking for “moderators” so I could help the fix.

So I tried the messages in the “Philosophy of Science” thread which are shown as “moved”. Last night that led me to the threads but this morning I get the message that I am not authorized to read those sites. Without being able to scan those moved posts, it is quite impossible to get the information one would have to give the moderators if they knew who they were.

Is there any way to obtain the authority to look at that “sociology” section? I think I could be of substantial assistance if I could see it as I have a pretty good idea as to what threads were originally in the Philosophy of Science section. At least I could point out a few thousand which were not and message the original creators as to where they thought they should be.

Without giving people the right to read that thread, you are losing a lot of valuable help which I am sure most would provide. You need not give them the right to post to the sociology section but at least give them the right to read it.

    Trying to help -- Dick

It occurred to me last night, after I had gone to bed, that someone might have hacked your site and wrought an almighty disturbance. I got up, intending to go in and see if any other sections had been so damaged, I tried to bring hypography up. What I got was that message that the system was being “updated” which seemed to possibly point towards such a thing.

This morning I tried again and got your message. I would certainly do everything in my power to help straighten this thing out. Just let me know what I can do to help.

Thank you and I apologize for adding to your problems -- Dick

Calm down. We are having technical problems and 14,000 threads were moved into sociology. This is not a vendetta towards you. If you'd like to HELP instead of being disappointed please let us know.

Whoever restructured this site has a very poor idea of proper classification. There is no way that anyone with any understanding of the field would even consider classifying any of my posts as "Sociology".

Just what is the intention here? Is it simply your intention to remove "Philosophy of Science" as a subject of interest?

What kind of discussions seem to you to belong in philosophy of science if it isn't the underlying principals behind science? I notice you have also removed every post in the "Philosophy" section also.

Are you attempting to assert that philosophy can not possibly be a science and thus does not belong in a science forum? If so, I am sincerely disappointed in your stand.

You may be "having fun" without me -- Dick
