Aren't you glad I visited your shoe throwing post and stirred up some interest in the thread or it might have ended up as dead as most of my threads do!

weather is typically changeable. barometer like a yo-yo, cloudy/rainy one minute, sunny the next. all in all, unseasonably warm though. we jokingly call our Pacific Northwest the land of liquid Sun.

i don't recall you saying you raised turtles, but i do have a partiality to box types. i once made a ceremonial pipe from one's vacated shell.

I live just outside Wilmington, NC, USA in an area known as Cape Fear. I like India, one of the places I would like to visit, too old now, probably won't ever happen.

I think it's time that the human race starts deciding what it wants to accomplish in the future. For far too long goals have been limited to individuals, groups, and rarely entities as large as countries.

Even when these small groups make future plans they are limited to a few years or at most decades. We as a species need to establish just what we want to make happen and point out a time line for this to happen. Some of the things I think the human race needs to do will have to...

Developing orbiting space colonies is important for several reasons. first and foremost is the idea of allowing mankind to avoid natural disasters on the Earth of a magnitude large enough to seriously impact the entire ecosystem of the earth.

Humans as a species have already been through the eye of the needle of mass extinction once. Sometime around 75,000 years ago the species Homo sapiens was nearly wiped out by an event so wide spread that somewhere in the neighborhood of only...

For my first blog entry I would like to say how important I think nuclear power is. I live within a few miles of a nuclear power plant and the electric grid I get my power from has even more nuclear power plants. This allows me to enjoy reasonably priced electrical power at a time when many people have to pay outrageously high prices for their power. While this is important the future of humanity is even more important to me and nuclear power merges quite well with that future. Any shift from reliance...
