    Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, Pyro. I'm all cought up with my kids' baseball and softball these days.

    You're most certainly deserving of pozrep with your contributions to our understanding of evolution in these fora. And like I said, you make it fun.

    Keep up the good work, Senor. (I don't know how to put a ~ over my spanish n)

    Did you really mean you are normally impressed by my posts/ threads or was that the lead up to your punchline in Quality Jokes? (At the moment I need all the friends I can get! Just made a stupid blunder and lost my job over it, seems I might make clever arguments but still trip over my own feet when I'm not looking where I'm going or what I'm doing - never picked at sports for this reason: I was always 'taken' as the last kid left, never chosen for my athletic abilities - this apparently could be a good indicator of Aspergers Syndrome. By the way, how dare you be older than me and seemingly interested in numbers, when apart from Sport, Maths was my next worse subject?).

    like i keep sayin'; that's why they pay me the big bucks. i wasn't gonna go public with the goods on the avatar, but you asked...sorta. it's a retouched digital scan of the bowl of a spoon i'm carving out of a scrap of oregon ash wood that was destined for the coffee-can charcoal stove. busy boys are better boys one of my father-in-laws used to tell me.

    I tell you guys what. Stop giving me rep.
    My accumulated rep was declared last week to be:
    (1) an honorary member of the Set of Primitive Infinities, Aleph-null;
    (2) large enough that it now has its own measurable gravitational field;
    (3) growing so quickly, that the value has started "bleeding" out of the realm of real numbers and now covers more than six acres of the Complex Plane; and
    (4) so big that the server storage required for just my rep has slowed down the entire Internet world-wide, and is probably the cause of the shutdown of the Large Hadron Collider.
    So my friends, it is indeed time to stop repping me. But you have to get this -- the gratitude that I feel for your kind comments and approval is a value infinitely larger than my rep. Thank you, thank you, forever thank you.
    You guys are the best.

Hello poetry fans.

The following are all poems from the thread entitled "Poems of Any Length". Perhaps half of them were written while I was a member here at Hypography. The others were written prior to that, and I just dragged them around with me, looking for a suitable place to publish them. Like, HERE!

Once again, I give the posting number from the thread.

Enjoy.

Hello, there, poetry fans.
For your literary amusement this evening, I have collected most of my quatrains from "Quatrain Corner" here in Hypography. I left out a few, as they were not all worth reading or remembering, and certainly not worth repeating.

Actually, this isn't so much for your amusement as it is for my sense of organization. I have a lot of posts out there in Hypo-Land (nearly 5,000 as of this moment), and sometimes I like reading my old stuff. IF...

Yeah, you don't know what you got 'till it's gone. But the mystery lingers. Why is it gone? The mystery tasks me, like a great white whale somewhere over the horizon.

I am speaking, of course, of the disastrous visit to Office Depot, as elucidated in my previous blog. I am speaking of the root cause of the fact that all my documents (actually, "most", not all) were erased from my hard drives.

The answer was staring me in the face from the day I got my...

I have a five year-old HP computer. It runs XP and it runs very well, thank you.

Woops. I had a computer. Past tense.

Though it ran long and well, and only crapped out while playing Alpha Centauri, my favorite game, I felt that it had slowed down over the years. No telling what was in there, gumming up the works -- viruses, worms, clams, spyware, spudware, cookies, gummybears and other mean and nasty stuff.

A brand new Office Depot had just opened...

What do you do with a drunk-en sai-lor?
What do you do with a drunk-en sai-lor?
What do you do with a drunk-en sai-lor?
So ear-ly in the mor-ning!

Thus goes an old navy ditty from the glorious days of sails and brass cannons. I never learned WHY they had to do "something" with the drunken sailor. Couldn't you just let him lie where he dropped? Or perhaps the ship was sinking--I can see where you might feel obligated to DO something with one of your...
