With all my gardening, I have never had herbs. But, a couple weeks ago the kids gave me a pot pre-planted with some. They are just starting to sprout, and I'm not even sure what they are. A variety I think she said. Time will tell.

My main garden is going good and I already am harvesting lettuce & radishes. My next sewing I'm thinking of adding a canvas liner and a shoulder strap to a nylon stuff-sack. Something for my hiking adventures.

    Enjoy the new place!

Yes!!! Potted herb garden. Lucky for me I have some herbs that refuse to die (if they can't survive a couple of weeks without water it's not my fault) peppermint, lavender, lemonsomething and rosemarin (?)that I can bring with me. No, you don't have to learn how to crochet today or tomorrow I will be sewing. Not patchwork but a tunika for my self!! For the first time.. wonder how I'll do? Let me know how your sewing is going? I need to find out more about postmagnet..

Hi Yvonne. I finally bought fabric today, and already I made my first quilting mistakes! I found our old thread at PostMagnet and picked up over there on my quilting adventure. Buckle up that bobbin!

Hey, sorry late response. I don't check in there too often. Yes, they say the grain is important - however - I measure success by whether it's finished or not. I try to do my best... I think cotton is the best fabric - but you can choose whatever you like. Of course we can do a fat quarter exchange! I would love to. Now I'm off to Italy....

For all my show watching, I had to look up 'fat quarters'. Good to know now it doesn't refer to pants that need letting out. The last sewing construction I did was with rip-stop nylon for a kite, and it has no grain. Is it important to have all the grain going the same way in a quilt?

40" x 60" sounds good & I commit to seriously thinking about committing to making this quilt. What is the best type of fabric? Maybe we could do a fat quarter exchange? I get some money in May from the government's economic stimulus thingy, and I'm budgeting for fabric now. Cha ching!

Well.. I'm trying to make one now - about 40 by 60 inch I think. Not too big and not too small. My kids don't have any quilts (guilty, guilty).. I don't know if they are that interested - I think Emily might be more interested now, while Jenny might when she gets older. You know what? If you start a quilt, I'll send you a couple of my fat quarters ... but you have to promise to use them for something and post (or send me) a picture of it. (Use can mean so many things...)

I do think a quilt from me is due, although I have a notorious reputation for lateness. What else should we expect from a skilpadde? Nonetheless, your encouragement is added to some I have received from a couple other gals and I do have a new grandchild, so I promise to start serious planning & budgeting. What do you suggest as a good quilt size for an infant to grow into? Have the girls kept an intertest in quilting?

Hello Turtle (skilpadde in Norwegian). You should do a quilt - maybe we should have a quilt challenge?? I'm currently trying to finish a quilt (more trying to start..) in time for a baptism - a little girl.

Hi Yvonne! I watched the quilting ladies on TV today (as if I miss them any Saturday ), and I thought of you. I still haven't done a quilt, but I have the sewing machine in my room now. Today they did free-form star blocks.
