Sometimes I have trouble believing in democracy. Other times I just think the vote should be taken away from happy talk newspeople.
If a fly had landed on the camera lens, would the anchorpeople have run into the street screaming? Possibly. They seemed pretty excited about a smudge on the camera lens--so excited they didn't seem to notice the circular smudge was moving exactly the way a smudge on a camera lens should move in relation to the landscape of the picture being taken.
Oh well, H. L. Mencken never saw one of these broadcasts. If he had, he should have felt vindicated in saying that "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."
