Consciousness of 'aliens' would begin in the womb. The mothers sounds alone would identify her to the baby. Emotional inputs would begin earlier than birth, sound, vibration, chemicals produced by the mother perhaps dopamine adrenaline etc) although birth would certainly be traumatic, it's quite neccessary too
One aspect of child development that is crucial, to me, is that a child will not only soak up everything they hear, they will believe it all. With all these fairy tales we tell children, unless there is a good metaphor to be had in the story, are we in our desire to relate to the magic of early childhood, creating a learning environment that leads to mistrust?
