Possessing much knowledge is like having a thousand foot fishing line with a hook, but the fish is always an inch beyond the hook.

At any given moment, I open my eyes and exist. And before that, during all eternity, what was there?
Nothing.

If you wish to gain knowledge, everyday put something in.
If you wish to gain WISDOM, everyday take something out.

Re: Asian Philosophy is Eloquent
Hey Racoon,
The Koans are great, but the impact is lessened if you describe their meaning to the reader... Maybe I will interpret it completely differently, and that's what makes it zen.
Cheers.

Re: Asian Philosophy is Eloquent
___Asian philosophy is indeed often eloquent; however, eloguence in itself is not sufficient for wisdom.
___A little kone pome:
I do not like koans,
not one bit,
I'd rather chew,
a ball of grundy.
____Quite long ago & just nearby, I went in for a bit o' tit-for-tat on the issue; here's a link to the thread & a paraphrased quote from me in it:

Re: Asian Philosophy is Eloquent
Most often the teacher cannot show the student the answer, but can show them the path to take in order to find it.
