Proof of same

How do you prove that something is the same, when everything is constantly changing, from its body, its personality, memories, to even our cells. Is there anything that constantly remains?
How do you know that, that being, that went from catterpillar to crystalis to butterfly is the same being?
Or that being the in picture there with blonde hair or no hair is the same one as the one writing this?
how do you prove somehting is the same if everything is constantly changing?

the only thing permanent is change.
yet there are somethings that exist outside of time, such as numbers, and their truths are permanent, 3+6 always will equal 9.

It sounds like you're tracking towards Buddhism. You may want to investigate it further. Fascinating stuff - and it requires no belief in supernatural beings.

actually sir i have tracked some buddhism, it began by stumbling upon sidhartha and then reading a jack kornfield book, and then i met a very free spirited women that took me to meet a buddhist monk, and he blessed me, pretty sweet. But buddhism is def. my favorite religion..if you'd call it one. It doesn't mess aroudn with the whole fear thing, "if you don't believe you go to hell" in fact it doesnt even mess wtih the whole heaven and hell concept..that's one thing i love about it

That's kind of getting into the "did we create math... or did we discover math" topic. I'm actually not sure if 3 + 6 is always going to equal 9.

why?

because what happens after humans go extinct? perhaps there will be another culture or race of beings that will label these ammounts with their own symbols...

but lets say that the universe were to implode in upon itself.... and then there was another big bang. there could be a whole new universe with completely different dimensions and physics. This could make it so that numbering systems will be different. Maybe there won't even be a way to make a numbering system in the new universe? who knows?
