right brain vs left brain.

left brain is about logical,

right brain is about imagination, creativity.

guys, logic is not everything!
you got 2 half brains, not just the left one!

to go beyond, you need to have some imagination!

right brain vs left brain.

hmm, i think im not starting any topic here...: \

my opinion:
left brain is generally more developed than right brain to humans,
but is it the way it should?

we use right hand, most equipments are made for right hand usage,
and wer forced to develope our left brain side,

and in school, math, science..... all these are considered to be more important than music, art...etc.
and when ppl think about smart, theyr generally talking about the smartness of "left brain"...

hmmm, do you think something need to be changed?
shouldnt it be that right brain is same important as left brain?

is it common in animals? (about left brain being better developed)
if so, where in the nature stats this? and y?

Tim,
This topic is very similar to one recently discussed in depth in the Watercooler group. Left or right hand. You may have better results picking this up there.

RE: right brain vs left brain.

Or - Tim, I would like to see some sources or evidence for this. I am not sure that it is true that one side of the brain is more "developed" than the other. I think it is a misconception to attribute too many things to each side of the brain. Even if scientists can spot more activity in one side of the brain when we use limbs on the other side of the body, does not mean that the other half of the brain is asleep...

right brain vs left brain.

some information from the website below:
http://www.viewzone.com/bicam.html

</a>

"Experiments show that most children rank highly creative (right brain) before entering school. Because our educational systems place a higher value on left brain skills such as mathematics, logic and language than it does on drawing or using our imagination, only ten percent of these same children will rank highly creative by age 7. By the time we are adults, high creativity remains in only 2 percent of the population."

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believing
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

and look for the topic "The War of the Brains" in this article...

this webiste has interesting information about left brain and right brain...

and hey! philosophy (right brain) is seperate from logic (left brain)!
.....

You crack me up, Tim. I didn't know you had two heads (one for the left brain, one for the right).

That *would* explain why we like you so much.

Or perhaps you are saying you only got one head (with a "right brain") since you are the philosopher? But then what happens to your logic?

Keep it up, Tim.

RE: right brain vs left brain.

By the way, ViewZone is a great site with lots of, er, "science" content. I especially like this article:

http://www.viewzone.com/marsobject.html

It's a speculation that a picture taken by Mars Global Surveyor actually shows the remnants of a non-artificial structure. Read it all the way through, and DON'T miss the second page. It's amazing what people spend their time on.

RE: right brain vs left brain.

It gets better, too...from page 2:

"Other data shows us that the temperature on mars is downright balmy at the surface but cools rapidly just a few feet above it. Thus it is plausible that we could be seeing liquid water in this image from the low-lying northern plains of Mars."

The pressure on the surface of Mars would make any liquid water simply evaporate.

Maybe we're seeing a new conspiracy theory type here..."Martian Anomalies" - where "the face on Mars" was just a faint beginning? Sheesh.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Tim. Bad manners on my behalf. Now Unc will berate me.
