Until viewing the linked-to site in post #1, I thought countries that criminalized “holocaust denial”, such as Germany, were overreacting. After seeing it, I realize I was naïve in this opinion.
The site is a competently produced example of what is referred to as “hate speech”. As serious history or political commentary, it is laughable – the hypotheses that essentially every terrorist act of the 20th and 21st centuries are the actions of a secret conspiracy of Israeli nationals and sympathizers, or any single group, for that matter – is both far-fetched and thoroughly debunked. As a means of invoking strong emotion, the site is very effective.
The emotion it invoked in me was disgust bordering upon physical illness. I regret even being aware such a website exists, let alone having viewed it, and consider it on a par with child snuff pornography. That people exist who find such a site in some way invigorating, uplifting, and something they would like to share in a public forum, horrifies me.
Politically, I have many objections to the policies of the state of Israel, so my reaction to this material cannot, I think, be considered knee-jerk sympathizing. I know some avowed racists who I consider decent people, and to whom I bear no ill will, so don’t think my reaction a knee-jerk reaction to racism.
In a society that champions freedom of speech, defining “hate speech” is problematical. However, to borrow a famous phrase from former US Supreme Count Justice
Potter Stewart, "I know it when I see it."
The linked-to site in this thread is hate speech. I have come to strongly suspect that Solve et Coagula (a Latin phrase translatable as “destroy and rebuild”) is a profoundly hateful person, inappropriate for membership at Hypography.
