Supposedly we live better than 95% of people on this planet (living in the united states, or maybe is california+US. But yeah, anyways...when i heard this claim, i asked by what standard, define living better? Is it our money and materials, becuase people are a lot happier without them, your materials own you. I freak out if my internet or computer isn't working, its pathetic. :-/ i dunno what do you think

Think about how much food is thrown away that goes bad in the meat section, the dairy section, the produce section, the bread aisle... how many restaurants chuck similar perishables each day... how many people leave uneaten food on their plates, or throw away food from their own refridgerators... and magnify this by everyone who does it...

Then, there are those who get to eat a small bowl of plain rice 3x/week and are thankful for it... lots and lots of em. Not even a source of drinkable water for many...


Yeah... I'd say we're doing better than many.

Commerce, and things like that, ruinned SOME natural resources around those poor people.

they can eat anything out there in nature,
but they have no one to activate their instincts when they are just being massively influenced by surrounding insane societies.

No one should go hungry, there is so much food everywhere.

I don't feel bad for them at all,

I think I heard this from Tylor Durden and it is an excellent and valid point. I made $60 thousand last year. My car is a $200 for festiva and my house is appraised at $22 thousand. I heat with wood and have no cable television. My goal in life is to get maximum utility for every dollar so I have time to spend with my family, experience new ideas, philosophize, and fight. Unfortunately my child has Autism and treating this condition has used up most of the money I make.

I wish!!!! Me and sweetie together only gross $34,000.
But we get by. We simply pay the bills and hope the moneys there when the next batch comes. It's getting tough though heat went up, water went up,
tuition bills are going to be coming soon for both of us.....Ok now I'm really depressed.

As far as having it better than other nations....depends on where you fit into the socio-economic structure here. There are those that make next to not enough (40%), those that make enough (5%), those that make enough but are in debt up to ther eyeballs (30%), then there's middle class(myth) , middle middle (20%), upper middle(4%) , and filthy rich (1%)

The point is American prosperity is a myth for a sizable portion of the population supported by the Govt. and lending institutions to
appease the masses.

thats what im saying..we are coniditioned to believe more=better, that is why i say we don't live better than 95%. We HAVE MORE than 95% but how is that better. Our possessions own us, our needs have become endless because of greed, who isn't corrupt anymore.
the people struggling and have little possessions, appreciate things much more than we do, which in my opinion makes them living better than we do.

I understand what you mean.

All I really want is to someday have my own custom metal, glass&ceramic works. A place where I could spend my days plying the trades of blacksmithing, tinsmithing, decorative Iron fabrication, custom machinery fabrication, refurbishing old machines of all types ,glass blowing and pottery. (As these are the things I love to do)

A quiet place in the mountains (the shop and my home could be one and the same I'd actually prefer it that way.) where I can play my instruments, write poetry, try my hand at making instruments and sculpting in metal, wood, and stone, and get back into painting. (and possibly raising buffalo they are very tasty )(dfinitly would have to have a sizable vegie garden. Yup gotta do sum mini farming)

A place without the traffic the noise, and nosey neighbors, where my dogs (I have two that I love to death: one old paraplegic lab (age 17) and one husky/wolf (age 10) both probably the sweetest pups in existance. But I may be just a bit partial) can enjoy what years they have left and bark to their hearts content without fear of repremand (I actually like listening to their barking I just wish I knew what they are saying.)

If I can achieve this then my life will have as far as I'm concerned been a great success as this is all I've ever wanted.

I have an aunt that earns her living doing crafts, refurbishing old furniture, and occasionally old homes. She makes just enough to live on but she is very happy (she says she prefers her life this way it's uncluttered simple and uncomplicated. She travels alot sometimes for jobs sometimes for missionary work. Has no use for TV or radio the only radio she owns came with her car! I envy her greatly she is able to do what she loves and thats enough!
