Good Fences Make Good Neighbors?

I've heard this before and I agree.

Good fences DO make good neighbors.
There is a Jehovah Witness couple that moved in next door.
While they are nice and respectful, there was clearly and ideological and political difference between us from the get-go.

They have already errected a fence that was not previously there with the neighbors who lived there before.
Not that I mind. I would prefer not view their Thursday rituals when all their "Jehovah" friends come over to discuss the Bible...
Gulp.

Any thoughts on Fences and/or Neighbors???
Philosophically speaking...

Re: Good Fences Make Good Neighbors?

Freedom of religion allows religious cults to prosper and my freedom of speech empowers me to warn others of their destructive practices.

Up close and personal Jehovah's Witnesses can be wolves in sheep's clothing.

Think about this-When the devil comes knocking on your door he may not have the 'dark goth look'.They could be smartly dressed and wielding the Christian Bible.

I have Jehovah's Witnesses family in the usa who practice the Watchtower JW enforced ritual shunning that i have not seen or heard from in 15 years. The central CORE dogma of the Watchtower is Jesus second coming (invisibly) in 1914 and is a lie.Jehovah's Witnesses are a spin-off of the man made Millerite movement of 1840.

A destructive cult of false teachings, that frequently result in spiritual and psychological abuse, as well as needless deaths (bogus blood transfusion ban).

Yes,you can 'check out anytime you want but you can never leave',because they can and will hold your family hostage.

The world has the Internet now,and there are tens of thousands of pages up from disgruntled ex-Jehovah's Witnesses like myself who have been abused by the Watchtower cult.

Jehovah's Witnesses are often a mouth that prays a hand that kills. The Watchtower is a truly Orwellian world.

I have a fence across part of my property. I like it. There is no way a trespasser can say "oh, I didnt know you owned this property". It gives me legal recourse and privileges that I dont have without this fence. People cant complain about what they cannot see.

I agree, Good Fences do make good neighbors.
I lost a good training partner to the Jehovah’s Witness.
I have also been harassed by a Seventh Day Adventist and some old lady that was just crazy.

There are plenty of benign religious people whose rights to religion I do not agree with, but respect their religious freedoms. The problem is that religion, with its acceptance of unsubstantiated claims is a magnet for the weak minded, dishonest and self serving.

YUp, fences are ueful for privacy's sake. But local anti-fortification laws make them less effective than they could be.

Re: Good Fences Make Good Neighbors?

I so agree with fences as well as the other. I got up one morning and two men in suits showed up at my door and ask, "Do you see us as a World ever being at Peace?" I said "What are you selling or which religion are you?" The man said, "I am a Jehovoh Wittness" I looked at him as serious as I could and told him, "Not as long as he stood at my door, and no one else on this street would see it his way". I closed the door and went back to watching T.V.

I think this is an expression from our dear old friend Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain. I agree with it, moreover the higher the fence the better. I do have my own little twist on it; if you want to associate with a neighbor on the other side of your fence don't tear down the fence, just put in a gate that locks from both sides.

Biological tissue is commonly compartmentalized as cells. OTOH, [i]Caulerpa[i] does very well without any internal cell membranes at all. The organism, and it may be meters in length, is one giant multinucleate cell. It does, however, isolate itself from the rest of the universe.

Let the best proceed unimpeded and the worst proceed unaided. This is the exact opposite of government. That is why we put up fences and shoot back.
