Belief and action

All the wrongs in the world are caused by people who think they're right. It is not political or religious ideologies that are at fault but 'belief' in the rightness of our actions (redneck short sightedness/ religious fundamentalists): See thread (wrongly) put in Philosophy of Science, 'Thought/Action Ratio', as it is on the same theme near enough. Prejudice is a defence reaction, which lumps everything together as being the same through association, whereas truth seeking is separating things out, to get to the real bottom line (police work/science/philosophy). In this world, you must conform to be less frightening and if you don't fit the pattern, you're out (eradicated). Creativity cannot exist. Originality is crushed. Difference is sought out and exterminated: Fear rules and reason is outlawed (hanged by the neck until dead). It is a shallow world of mob violence as personified by Jason and the Bean Men (Greek Mythology, the leader of the Argonauts).

Belief can cure ills (The Placebo Effect - if you think you will get better, you do because you put in the effort to change from what you are to what you want to be: Depression is accepting the death (prison) sentence, which says nothing will change and is right because it 'does' nothing to change things (A garden full of weeds will remain a garden full of weeds unless you put in the effort to change it). It is moral and 'morale' cowardice - fear of failure, so not trying to alter situations (trial and error experiments - return to childhood trust and innocense),

Another section of belief is the lucky charm and voodoo - it works because you believe it works: What is the common denominator behind the four sided clover, rabbit's foot, other personal icon? Belief, Why does a curse work? Because you let it (Believe in its power to kill or cure). This is the psychic mechanism at work, for good or ill.
