Exclamation A good intro to the philo of science

It begins by discussing the importance of the philosophy of science, then moves on to the scientific method, or analyzes the popular models (induction, hypothetico-deductive, abduction, falsification, etc) and problematizes realism. The intro also covers issues like the demarcation problem, verisimilitude, occam's razor, theory underdetermination, and the theoryladenness of language.

Comments welcomed!

Re: A good intro to the philo of science

Now that's one of the best ones I've ever seen. Congrats to the author (izzat you?)...

You should bring some of that discussion in here, as it will definitely be welcomed by the Hypography denizens...

Cheers,
Buffy

Re: A good intro to the philo of science

The author, alas, is not Yers Truly, but the immortal Hugo Holbling. Not only is the moderator of my boards a heavyweight in the rarefied air of academia (philosophy, science, literature, or history) he is also a vicious bastard at rugby and has his own board.

But i'd be delighted to bring some of that stuff - well, at least my own heretical takes - here.

And thank you for registering!

Re: A good intro to the philo of science

That's good stuff! I am embarrassed by how much of it I had once known, and had forgotten. I'm going to have to do some reading, I see.
