my fathers warped space consept

the common cospetion of warped space is the trapoline-bowling ball model. however, i pointed out that model doesnt really work as space, if truly warped by gravity, would need to be warped in all three diamentions. so my father proposed this model instead. you know how when you put a magnet under a sheet of paper with metal filings you get all those nice field lines? my father proposes that gravity warps space in much the same way, giving it a more spherical look. i persoanally like this idea, and certianly find it more probable than the trapoline model.

It's important to realize that any physical representation we give space-time, it is only conceptual. Your father's model seems valid to me. If it helps one understand the concept better, then I see no reason not to utilize it.

Re: my fathers warped space consept

This concept is useless unless it has a precise mathematical formulation. An idea needs solid ground to stand on.
