Einstein@Home Team!

I have set up a team for Hypography at the Einstein@home project. The aim of the project is to...
Quote:
Einstein@home is a program that uses your computer's idle time to search for spinning neutron stars (also called pulsars) using data from the LIGO and GEO gravitational wave detectors. Einstein@home is a World Year of Physics 2005 project supported by the American Physical Society (APS) and by a number of international organizations.

After several months of testing, we are now 'throwing open the doors' for general participation. If you would like to take part, please use the Create account link to create an account, and follow the instructions. Einstein@home is available for Windows, Linux and MacOS X computers.

This first production run of Einstein@home carries out a search for pulsars over the entire sky, using the most sensitive 600 hours of data from LIGO's third science run, S3.
If you want to join the Hypography team, click on this link and you'll automatically be added to the team when you sign up:
http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/create_...hp?teamid=1691

You need to download the Boinc software to make your computer participate, but it is all explained on the website.

Re: Einstein@Home Team!

I've been doing Seti@Home for about 6 years now, and you can run all these BOINC related projects simultaneously if you want to.

I'll probably keep my unit credits to myself though! I'm in the top 0.5% at Seti!

FYI: Seti has been doing a major conversion to BOINC this weekend and it looks like the servers are still down. Come back later this week.

Cheers,
Buffy

Open the BOINC Manager and in the "Projects" tab click "Attach to new project", and enter the URL "http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/" and your "Account Key" from the Einstein at home email, and click OK.

P.S. I'm in. @virgin here.

Re: Einstein@Home Team!

My home computer has been shut down for 3 weeks but it's coming back up tomorrow!

BOINC has crashed on me repeatedly for the past months so I might need an updated version.

Wow...thanks Morten, I had forgot about this myself after switching to Linux.

I'll make sure I get the stuff installed.
