Fractals anyone?

Greetz
I just LOVE fractals. I love the very idea of fractals. I love them as Art and also as Science...well to be exact I have seen some less than stellar ones but it is amazing the percentage that are at least eye-catching and interesting. Most of the best ones are copyrighted so I'd like it if this thread began with links to see your faves. Some copyrighted ones allow limited reproduction as long as you consent to certain limitations of use, often merely non-commercial. So do check first, but it would be a beautiful thread if those privileged to utilize attachments would post their favorites right here. As I said I love the Science too so if you'd rather post algorithms, formulae, or fractal generation software names that's cool too.

Here's a beginning
Fractal World Gallery Thumbnails : cosmic recursive fractal flames or flame fractals

Thx

Re: Fractals anyone?

I like them deep fried in batter!

Copyright? Perhaps the image, but not the math; algorithms and formulae can surely be posted.

Lightbulb Re: Fractals anyone?

I am currently wanting to test my AltiVec saavy by making an algorithm to make them. This
would then run on a PowerPC (Mac, or other VME board). I am more interested in other
than the Mandlebrot set (overdone). So I may generalize by considering other equations
as the iterating engine (as well as other Division Algebras) -- (Quaternions, Octonions, etc).

Thumbs up Re: Fractals anyone?

We have some fractal info here: >. http://hypography.com/forums/physics...of-nature.html
& here: >> http://hypography.com/forums/physics...lorations.html

Here's a classic worth rementioning.

Chaos Downloads from Rudy Rucker's Wesbsite
Quote:
This is a shareware release of James Gleick's CHAOS: the Software.

You run the program by opening Windows explorer and clicking on one of the following six batch file names. (We used to have an master CHAOS.BAT, but modern versions of Windows don't support that file, so now CHAOS.BAT just lists the names of six batch files.)

MANDEL.BAT Mandelbrot sets and variations.
MAGNETS.BAT Magnets and pendulum.
ATTRACT.BAT Strange attractors.
GAME.BAT Barnsley's iterated function system fractals.
FORGE.BAT Fractal forgeries of mountains, clouds, etc.
TOY.BAT Cellular automata.

MANDEL.BAT. A very fast Mandelbrot set program, incorporating: quadratic and cubic Mandelbrots, various fill patterns, quadratic and cubic Julias, and the gnarly "cubic Mandelbrot catalog" set I call the Rudy set. The image in the background of this page is the RHORSE.FRP parameter set for the Rudy set.

MAGNETS.BAT. A Pendulum and Magnets program showing chaotic physical motion.

ATTRACT.BAT. A Strange Attractors program showing some of the Hall of Famers as the Lorenz Attractor, the Logistic Map, the Yorke Attractor, the Henon Attractor, etc.

GAME.BAT. A "Chaos Game", which is a Barnsley Fractals program showing Iterated Function System fractals such as the famous "fern".

FORGE.BAT A "Fractal Forgeries" program that shows mountain ranges based on random fractals.

TOY.BAT. A "Toy Universes" program that shows some cellular automata.

Re: Fractals anyone?

Thanks Guys
The more I come here the more it feels like 2nd home. It will take me a good while to digest what's already been offered and I'll try to respond to each of you individually as well. Might be a repeat but worth a revisit since they update often.
