Thank you everyone!! I will let you all know what the answer was when He gets it back from his teacher. I'm glad someone else is good at math because it's wasn't my best subject. I carry a calulator and use my fingers when I can't find that!! ha ha. Thanks

Make 10 yards equal to 1 unit and the planks 0.9 units. Up-end the planks together and plant them, like a tree, in the ground. The diagonal distance across the moat is root 2, so, as we have 2 planks in the form of a tree we can dig up the root of 2 and over we go.

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.
