Theories on Light/ FTL travel.

I tried doing a search on this, but I find it very hard to believe that I could not find this.

So, I'm in the preparation of writing a science fiction book, but I want to make it somewhat feasible and "realistic." I don't want a Star Trek knock-off, where everyone is a scientist, but I do want some factual basis. With that said, here is my question:

What are some popular theories on FTL travel, and (bear with me) which is the most feasible?
Now, remember, even if you don't believe that we can do it, I am writing a science FICTION novel.

Thank You

RE:Theories on Light/ FTL travel.

I say it right away, sorry I don't know the most plausible theory.

but just in case you didn't see it, there is a post further down where they talk about theories on faster than light travel...
