| Creating | Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin Why do you think Clinton had a surplus? Was it due to his economic policies? No. Was it due to his fiscal expertise? NO. It occurred because of the great profits from the tech boom. His whole legacy reduces to the Lewinsky affair. He was a good BS'er, but a mediocre president and a poor role model If the cons screwed up so badly, why didn't the lib congress try to reverse things in the last two years? How long do they wait to get started? Can you name any problems they have tried to correct? Can you speak to their basic philosophy of government? It seems all they have done is criticise. That's easy, it's tougher when you actually try to DO something. What are they going to do to fix what the Repubs broke? | |

| Creating | Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin questor, if you would actually listing to the democrats you would know that they have been telling you to solve these problem by getting involved. We should find something positive to do on the community level. That's the way to change things for the better. That is the real core strength of the democatic party. that's the rout Oboma took to go into politics, that's the route Carter took after. To me this a safe way to vote. What do you do to help you're fellow man? ---------------- I do not know what I seem to the world, but to myself I appear to have been like a boy playing upon the seashore and diverting myself by now and then finding a smoother pebble or prettier shell than ordinary, while the great ocean of truth lay before me all undiscovered. - Sir Isaac Newton Last edited by Thunderbird; 09-07-2008 at 12:12 PM. | |

| Creating | Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin I admire Carter for his work with Habitat, although I think giving someone something without them doing something in return is a losing proposition. He would do better teaching birth control. The houses will crumble and the problem will still be there. You say we should do something in the community. I do.. I pay my taxes, I keep my house and property in very good shape and I take full responsibility for myself and my family. I do not trash the streets or drive too fast. I obey the laws and I treat others with respect as long as they deserve it. I worked my way through graduate school and I read quite a bit. I do not look for handouts or special favors from the government and I have respect for the concept of personal property. I believe that everyone should appreciate and participate in improving every facet of our society. I am convinced that each person should do everthing he can to become the best he can be and our society needs to do the same thing. This is what I do and who I am, you can judge for yourself whether this is good or bad or if society would prosper if everyone had this philosophy. | |

If you were not born into a family that allowed for an education, but only back breaking work that barely paid the bills. Born into a family were you were abused or neglected because you come from an economically impoverished area that had few community services. What do you think leads to poverty ? Sustains poverty.? You seem to have a lot to say about the poor . Where do you attain this “knowing “ what books do read that explain poverty, origins of it, solutions to it ? How many have gotten out of it? What programs worked. What ones haven’t ? You are not expressing knowledge here only fear and hate born from the illusion that you belong to higher class. If you had read anything on this subject of poverty you would realize this is the source of poverty around the world. The idea of a class system, some people matter and some don’t, the rich deserve more the poor less.. A marginalizing of people in society. This is what Pallin and you are talking about and it is the root cause of poverty. This is not an opinion but a fact drawn from academics that study the cause and effects of poverty in any society. Do not ask for who the bell tolls , it tolls for the. I want to tell one more thing, Do you want to find out about the poor go talk to someone that works in the field of finding work for poor people. They will educate you about Americans, and how they will time and time again pull themselves up by their bootstraps. If they are only given a chance. Pallin and her ilk will do like they have always done . Kick the latter out from under the poorest, so they can help the rich. Then you and your ilk can have some one to feel superior to. Go mow you lawn and survey your kingdom and be a proud American. ![]() ---------------- I do not know what I seem to the world, but to myself I appear to have been like a boy playing upon the seashore and diverting myself by now and then finding a smoother pebble or prettier shell than ordinary, while the great ocean of truth lay before me all undiscovered. - Sir Isaac Newton Last edited by Thunderbird; 09-07-2008 at 01:27 PM. | ||

| Understanding | Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin Thunderbird, are you suggesting questor is somehow wrong in a display of self reliance approach to life. Do you realize that most people throughout history had no place to go for help, much less putting food on the table... Born into poverty...There is no one born into poverty in this country and far fewer born into wealth than you may think. Most of those people your placing into some mold, have worked hard to improve their status, educate their children, keep that food on the table and know they have done well. Poverty is staying alive, no place to get food, shelter or help for anything. Billions live that life style around the world and there is no hope. They die on average in their 40's, not able to read, write, ever attend a school or have laws to protect the basic rights every American has, once born. Where does this family exist that a child is born and not allowed to go to school or once there told of limitation he/she will experience. Education today, can be self taught and test taken to equate that learning to gain access to any level of education, in turn to success. Teach and preach the positive, not the negative. Tell the kids the truth, hard work and a desire to achieve even the unachievable is possible. Don't pamper the quitters, free loaders or encourage the law breakers by gratuitous handouts to keep under control. These people in 'in the fields' are social workers, there jobs dependent on for survival of their own jobs. They don't want the truth known and in some cases do not care. May be a little less sympathy for errors in judgment like attending school, not doing drugs or getting pregnant at 13-17 would set examples, not perpetuate them... Factually IMO this is exactly what happened to Obama, maybe from his grand parents. His Dad was not some shinning example, nor was his mother. Did he climb out of that death trap you portray for 'the POOR'...Palin, is what every American woman should be proud of and I guarantee to every older woman in this country is. Strong women are not that common, but all women are strong in ways most never understand. She displays both, best I can tell and will make Americans proud. Sorry if this offends you, but Hillary Clinton is much the same and women are just as proud of her, as are most Americans whether or not they agree with her politics. | |

| Astounding Vision | Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin Earlier today I replied to yet another Republican e-mail that suggested that I wasn't a real American because I didn't agree to pass on yet another e-mail insulting anyone who might consider voting for Obama. Here is the intelligent, uplifting message I got in return.... Quote:
