Re: Presidential Debate: Round 2
After tonight, I hope I never have to hear another word about LAPEL PINS!
Once again, the debate spoke for itself. Anyone with an honest and objective point of view can easily tell who has a better grasp of the issues, a better plan for dealing with them, a better ability to convey his message, and a more genuine representation of change from the current imbecilic, incompetent, ideologically driven, repressive, secretive, corrupt, dishonest, hegemonic batch of morons that has been fumbling through the last eight years at our expense and the expence of our foreign relations, but not surprisingly to the great benefit of their wealthy cohorts.
Enough!
----------------
It seems to me that people tend to prefer to believe what they want to be real or true, despite evidence to the contrary.
When what you believe is refuted by evidence, you are faced with a choice.

Re: Presidential Debate: Round 2
Objectively I don't believe McCain did what he needed to. He needed a win, even if by just a little bit, to stop Obama's growing momentum.
As was, I think it was a draw or a slight win by Obama.
I liked McCain's stance on nuclear.
I liked that Obama spelled out his health insurance plan with some more detail than in the last debate.
McCain's biggest screw up for me was when he was asked about giving congress a hard date for fixing social security and medicare.
Obama went first and didn't answer the question.
McCain opened his answer by saying "I will answer the question" (chuckle). He then FAILED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION! He is an idiot. He had a great oportunity to score some serious points. Not only did he fail to score those points, he drew attention away from Obama's failure and onto his own.

Re: Presidential Debate: Round 2
I love this web site FactCheck.org.
They have a great summary of the debate at FactCheck.org: FactChecking Debate No. 2.
I really wish this type of review (purely fact based) would get more media attention.

Re: Presidential Debate: Round 2
Neither of these candidates has the slightest clue about what is happening in the global meltdown or what to do about it. Since there is so much pressure from the left on Obama, one may think that ,should he win, we will segue into
a high tax liberal utopia where capitalism will become just another dirty word.
The mighty engine of free enterprise that created this paradise of America we live in will crumble in power and importance while China takes over as the new superpower. The market doesn't care about race, color, or gender, but it does care about efficiency. Efficiency demands a certain amount of ruthlessness and good management that we no longer possess.

Re: Presidential Debate: Round 2
I disagree with the idea of ruthlessness being needed, but we do need some good, scrupulous management that is more concerned with the company's profits than their own. For AIG execs to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars after having to beg the government to help them is absolutely shameful.
