Yes.
1. The sand will make you take long journeys (trip) from the camp to the first aid tent so they can treat the alkali burns on your feet.

Here's the only page in the Burning Man Home Site that mentions the sand.

There may be more detailed info on other pages I did not find. In general, the alkalis tend to be "salts" of Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium and other light metals on the left side of the periodic table.

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.
