| Creating | Re: Too Politically Correct is Wrong Political correctness is for snobs and wimps. The only redeeming feature is that it is creating new words for the language, which is creative. But every so many years, the snobs come up with new ones and then try to make a new batch of wimps to help them get rid of the old words. The way I look at it, it is not the words, but the emotional valence that is attached to the word. The word is easier to demarcate, since it is tangible. The emotional aspect is hard to pin down and can be easily denied. I like watching the old reruns of Archy Bunker "All in the Family". Archy was a bigot and imbecile in words but had a good heart. This allowed him to say anything and get laughs instead of hurts. He would get life in prison nowadays because of the sensitivity snobs and wimps, who appear incapable of assessing emotional intent. How ironical! | |
