Memories flash further back with time?

It seems that our brain works this way: the older we grow, the farther memories we remember. (old people tend to forget things happened recently)

Is that true? And why?

Some say the moment before we die, our memory will play fast backward and when it reaches the starting point, our system will then shut down.

Again, can anybody provide answer here?

I'm not that old, but I've not experienced being able to remember further back, yet. Perhaps you mean that the short term memory fades, but long term memories are preserved?

I don't think anyone can truly answer that. It would require dieing and coming back alive to tell of it.
