Connectivity/Crystalized knowledge of parent correlated to child iq?

Has anyone seen any studies on this?

I have read several different lines of thinking on Intelligence and two major theories seem to be the theory that Cold weather has selected higher iqs over time and the theory that civilizations with focuses on intelligence and education have over time adapted to their self given roles.

I personally of am the second camp and I am curious what kinds of studies have been conducted to eliminate one of these. One of the first things to realize is that the second school of thought is capable of explaining the first... ie cold weather would force more practical thinking and cause people to adapt.

One way to test it seems to be to try and correlate large amounts of crystallized intelligence with increased iq of children (over the parent even).
