She told Discovery News that "the thing that continues to surprise me is the fact that even in the Galapagos, a place that is the 'Mecca' for evolutionary biologists, we still have undiscovered biodiversity not only amongst small organisms, but even for large vertebrates, as these iguanas are."

Great post T-Bird, Galapagos is a fascinating place, one of the places I always wanted to visit and explore. I almost bought a giant tortoise once, they are bred in captivity and young ones can be bought as pets.

Yeah, i live in an area where I could have kept it outside 6 to 8 months of the year, it would have been so cool to have a huge tortoise grazing in my yard! I keep box turtles instead, I have one I've had for 35 years.
