Extraction of Salicylic Acid - HOW?!?!?

Well im in my IB 1 year and supposedly (according to some teachers) that i signed a death warrant by deciding to do an extended essay on chemistry.
Anyway, my topic is the Extraction of Salicylic Acid from different rhizomes
Basically, i plan to extract and purify salicylic from different rhizomes plants (eg.turmeric) and see which rhizomes would yield the highest amount of salicylic acid. well i do realise that it can be difficult to extract an organic compound from a natural source.
THe problem is i couldn't find any protocols for extraction in accessible journals. So far, i found out that recrystallisation migh be possible.
Does anyone have any advice regarding this extraction? Any help would be much appreciated!
