survival of the fittest?

hi, so i am required to write a extended research essay on the topic of my choice in order to get my ib diploma from highschool. anyway, i was thinking of the topic that bases itself generally around these few ideas,
1.) is our societys obsession with preserving life just? or has our greed overtaken us?
2.) is it not a primal instinct for humans to act in the way, after all, survival is built into our beings
3.) i would bring into play the topic of cryonics (preserving the body through a sort of process of freezing)
4.) and for a sort of final conclusion bring into play the recent death of the worlds oldest person, as well as the fact that our bodies are now taking even longer to rot because of all the chemicals that we now put into our bodies, and therefore, there is a sort of unconcious fight for survival.

anyways, i would appreciate any help on this and anythoughts, if you think that this could work and form a good essay, or am i just spouting random thoughts,
Thanks

I think it sounds like a great topic for a paper. However, this last bit would need substantial evidence and would require that you do serious research on it. Which I guess is part of the game, anyway.
