Imagine the bubble of gas as a micro version of our air and subject to all the same possible weather phenomenon. Now imagine the sonic shocks producing separation of electrostatic charge concentrating in the polar regeons of the bubble. Adding glycerin offers more medium for storage of charge and when the this charge reaches the total capacaty of the 'cell' a discrarge 'lightning' returns the system to equilibrium. This is my own theory anyway and will provice detail of the mechanisms on request. Good luck on your project.

Re: Science fair project

Gpdone, both you and Gahd have very interesting ideas; I'd love to hear more about each of them and any that others may have. After talking with one of my teachers I have come up with a research topic for my project. I'll be testing how polarizing the water will affect sonoluminescence. I'm thinking of getting two strong electromagnets and positioning them on opposite sides of the apparatus to where similar poles are facing each other. Perhaps by using the diamagnetic properties of water to force the hydrogen end of the water molecule to point towards the center will increase the energy output.

Sounds good to me. You could potentially make it interactive by modulating the electromagnets with the sound of someones voice using a mic and guitar amp.

Good luck!
