Re: Your Facebook Account

Then it's great that I don't use Facebook or MySpace, no?

1984 is a great book, though should the future be indeed like what is in the book, that would be scary indeed...

Re: Your Facebook Account

Could someone please explain to me the reasons for having a Facebook account?

Interesting that Racoon decided to place this in a sociology forum; which I guess it is.

One young friend has pictures of her highly inebriated on hers.
I hope she doesn't decide to go into politics one day.

It's social networking. I used to think it was lame, but since I joined, I'm on it everyday!
I've found friends that I haven't spoken to in over a decade. You're able to keep up with all your friends without having to call them and ask what's new. On top of that, you can also post links, news, videos, music, and photos. There's also games on there that can be quite entertaining (anyone want to join my mafia?). For example, there's an application on there called lil green patch where you have a virtual garden. You send plants to your friends and each plant you send saves 1 sq. ft. of rainforest. The application has managed to save over 90 million sq. ft. of rainforest. There's also groups you can join, just about any subject you can think of has a group (eg biochar).

It's pretty neat.
