![]() | Pothead discovers worlds largest impact crater I have sent this information to the USGS and they forwarded it to their Astrogeology dept. I was browsing google earth and found that a very large object hit the US and scraped along the surface before Exploding in alabama and showering the midwest with huge rocks that left craters all over texas and arkansas. Most of these craters have taken the form of small ponds. The impact point is a hundred miles or so south east of huntsville Al. And there is a huge impact crater that goes through 3 states. The thing was so huge that it carved out the Appalachian mountains. You can zoom in on them and see the serated edges of the object Where it rolled and scraped the land. Here are some images I put on my site http://www.bigfatpothead.com/earth/1.jpg http://www.bigfatpothead.com/earth/2.jpg http://www.bigfatpothead.com/earth/3.jpg http://www.bigfatpothead.com/earth/4.jpg Thanks Ronnie Smith |

has the USGS said anything about this? Is it photoshopped? Really a wild picture but I'm not sure it is a real artifact. Have you checked pictures from other high altitude sources?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pothead discovers worlds largest impact crater I'm looking at exact same thing on Google Earth right now. Nice! That thing is so big it's in 4 states at once. What else but a meteor would do that to the landscape - volcano How big is a meteor in comparison to it's crater? If it's a hoax it's pretty clever putting it on Google Earth. Last edited by Ahmabeliever; 04-25-2008 at 01:45 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pothead discovers worlds largest impact crater Its not a crater, craters are round concave depressions, this looks more like lineaments and deformations due to mountain building process. Meteors do not leave skid marks, except in movies.

![]() | Re: Pothead discovers worlds largest impact crater Really, and what type of corrosive makes mountains? I don't think this is a direct impact, I think it came in at an angle. let me hear you explain the craters all over texas, arkansas, and Oklahoma. also if you look at the city of Marshall Alabama, you can see it is the center. by the way you said "mountain forming process" what is this process? |

| Tittle | This sounds/looks like part of the Carolina Bays formation. Here at Hypog we have several threads and lots of links on Earth impacts. :Earth: http://hypography.com/forums/environ...ct-site-s.html http://hypography.com/forums/astrono...r-planets.html Especially good!! >> http://hypography.com/forums/environ...xtinction.html

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pothead discovers worlds largest impact crater Could it have bounced? For a rough idea look for any other objects/holes/lakes that follow the ratio 7:2 (South:West) of possible craters if the object angles in from the North (North:East if coming from the South etc).

![]() | Re: Pothead discovers worlds largest impact crater That is exactly what I think happened. I think it came in at sharp angle and I don't think it had a really great speed. I think it could have even gone back out to space. Is that possible? I am not a physicist, I am a pothead! How do you think I had enough time to find all the tiny craters? I have a google earth file of the fallout craters, they are all over Texas, Arkansas, Oklohoma, and North Carolina. http://www.bigfatpothead.com/craters.kmz download that and put it in your google earth. |
