Do you believe in Ghosts?

Psychologists have known it for a long time that the Mind can transcend time and space.
Some of the phenomenon are listed below
1.Near Death Experience (NDE)
2.Out of Body Experience(OBE)
3.Inner Voice (no more a psychological disease)
4.Premonition
5.Past Life Regression
6.Psychic Dreams
7.Multiple Personality Disorder (one body many personalities..attributed to schizophrenia)
8.Religions believe in Ghost
9.Educated Americans believe in Ghost
Quote:
Three in Four Americans Believe in Paranormal
The results of a recent gallup poll suggested that over 40% of Americans believe in possession by the devil and 15% believe spirits can 'temporarily assume control of a human body'.
http://home.sandiego.edu/~baber/logic/gallup.html
10.If the nature is transactional then logically there is need a to propose continuity of life after death.
11.Cases of Rebirth
12.Real Ghost encounters.
(the list is incomplete)

It is true that there were many fardulent cases in the past but if we search the web for the specific cases mentioned above then we will find that no can doubt on the occurrence of such events... what is debatable is what causes it?
I propose that ghosts are responsible..
Do you think Ghosts exist?
Is it possible to formulate the laws of supernatural by proposing existence of goshtons?

Re: Do you believe in Ghosts?

your choice. But remember America spends 45% of the world's total education budget and it also spends 35% of research budget... Had the answer been so easy 3/4th americans would not have believed in ghosts and the paranormal.
Either america is stupid and all the money is being spent to train the foreigners or the america is a land of paradoxes just like India... where 70-80% "scientists" believe in God and supernatural. In US more than 80% believe in God and Supernatural...
Why should we ignore the possibility?

I do not believe in the objective existence of ghosts.

Furthermore, the claim

Is fallacious and deceptive, conflating belief by some people in the supernatural with proof of the existence of it.

I do not doubt that “[some] Educated Americans believe in Ghost[s]”, because some educated Americans have written, and personally told me “I believe in ghosts”. The linked 2005 Gallup poll supports my conclusion: 32% of Americans polled responded “believe in” to the statement “Ghosts/that spirits of dead people can come back in certain places/situations”, 19% “not sure about”, 48% “don’t believe”. However, along with about 48% of Americans, I strongly doubt that any ghosts actually exist.

I have read many claims of the reality of alleged paranormal occurrences such those listed in the post, both online and in print, and am aware of may unsupported or fraudulent claims of them, but no well-controlled experiment verifying any of them.

Many organization for the systematic study and investigation of such claims, such as the CSI and the JREF, exist. I encourage anyone who believes they have legitimate, verifiable evidence of the paranormal to contact one of these organizations to systematically. In particular, the JREF offers a $1 million prize for a successful demonstration of the existence of a paranormal phenomena.

Without scientific evidence, claims such as those made in post #1 are simply more of countless unsupported claims of the paranormal. Unsupported claims are against hypography’s site rules, and should not be made.

Re: Do you believe in Ghosts?

Again Your choice.. you want to fight with the psychologists and statisticians...
You want to deny thousands of documented cases of OBE and NDE and Inner Voices... You wish to deny the fact that in dreams we see personalities we have never seen before.
I dont give a damn if your forum doesnt allow ghosts. For me they exist and they will always exist no matter what you people believe...
Some hypocrites believe in God but forget the Ghosts.. Its like I remember God pertains to spirituality but I dont believe in spirits.

I dont know how you interpret statistics... I quote from the same link.
Quote:
A special analysis of the data shows that 73% of Americans believe in at least one of the 10 items listed above, while 27% believe in none of them. A Gallup survey in 2001 provided similar results -- 76% professed belief in at least one of the 10 items.
Stop being a hypocrite and show your daring skepticism....
We will find out who wins..

You will find all the references on the web.. And most importantly you will references which are well supported by the media and psychology departments..

Re: Do you believe in Ghosts?

A simple public majority doesn't make something valid. A simple claim that others believe it to be true is meaningless. There is no real evidence of the supernatural.

If you want to go chase shadows and anthropomorphize every natural phenomena as your dead grandma trying to talk to you go ahead. Just don't call it science.

I fail to see what you’re statistical data has to do with proof of ghost. The only thing it really proves is that a lot of people are superstitious idiots that's all.
90% of people in the area where I live say there are wolves in the forest, when they have been extinct in this state for over 120 yrs.

Re: Do you believe in Ghosts?

What is science then ? Is Physics science ? Chasing the dark matter. Is Biology science ? Chasing the impossible biogenesis. Is Chemistry Science ? Failing to produce a catalyst which works at least half better than enzymes.
Psychology and Ghosts deal with mind and not matter that is why it is not so predictable. When we deal with ghosts we deal with personalities.
