Re: did jesus went to India or is just a myth

The Jews wandered 40 years in the desert after Egypt. Let's run the numbers,

40 years
200 days/year of active march
5 miles/day covered

Is that conservative enough for you? (40)(200)(5)=40,000 miles, or a 20,000 mile round trip. Jesus went nowhere near India for obvious reasons. The Jews were all over India - out to China's east coast and back with lots and lots of mileage still untouched.

Is there any reason you would pick a science site to ask such questions? If no one can prove that there even was a jesus how could anyone prove where he went?

Re: did jesus went to India or is just a myth

i'd say its an excellent site to ask the question.

it guarantees a non dinominational audience that will try to answer the question objectively

"jesus" or the messiah, in the purest sense being the most successful of the jews of 2k years ago and modern day christian myth, may not have travelled far. certainly not as far as india and most definately not off of the continent (not in life anyway).

it is a myth, one such as who whom we remember may have lived and done things to get his facts tossed into the global messiah myth, one of us will become as string as our oppressors and liberate us, but for the most part its unlikely he travelled very far from his home, being a rabble rouser and general nuisance the the local jewish and roman power base required that he constantly cause trouble. of course causing too much trouble too often gets you killed (probably something the romans wished to highlight once the whole episode was over.

the christ myth, one centering around a hotbed of contrversy and martyrdom had to be respun after the death of jesus of nazareth, the romans yoinked facts from as many myths as they could find to gather as many followers into this burgeoining jesus myth before too many people gathered their colective strength against roman (or their own local oppressors). everywhere people were being oppressed the name of jesus and other local martyrs would have been used by rebellions or authorities, either to spur uprisings or fore stall them until the excitement cooled down. either group, rebellion or church championed of jesus, for to oppose the myth would be to incur the wrath of its followers. perhaps the real birthplace of the gov't vs church duality came when the church lost its monopoly of power against the aristocracies of the ancient world, this was not aided by such powerful martyrs as jesus.

the roaming jesus myth probably comes from retellings of more ancient stories, in areas where information was not passed very easily once the jesus myth came it would have been distorted then even further distorted once those people told it to others. merging the old stories with the more powerful jesus myth made the story stronger and thus a better tool to control people with.

india especially has many ancient myths similar to jesus and the jews also had several messiah before jesus, its odd though that we don't know about many if any of the others, possibly becuase their rebellions were less tactfully executed and resulted in bloody failure. the idea thuogh of the messiah is a universal template for rebellion. if one is needed [a messiah] the story guides prospective messiah on a path toward an eventual end, who's end generally ends in bloodshed, in the worst cases no one with direct knowledge of the events can tell exactly what happened. its also in the nest interest of the gov't to destroy every person responsible for the rebellion to rid the people of any will for freedom, this way the stories stop being told and slowly decay, fact turning quickly into hearsay and then myth.

Re: did jesus went to India or is just a myth

It is thought that the magi were Zoroastrian Persians, not Indians, they would have presumably brought him to Persia. In any case it could explain at least part of why he differed from other Jews.
