Red face new forum for science beginners

im quite interested in learning more about science but Im finding myself completely lost as to what people are talking about. Perhaps a forum for beginners where answers are encouraged to be in simple english?

Re: new forum for science beginners

That sounds like a very good idea which I will discuss with the staff. Thank you.

Re: new forum for science beginners

Isn't that what tutorials are for? And I certainly don't mean to put down the idea, I just wonder what the difference would be from a beginner's point of view (which I am). If you want to learn about a topic, you go to a tutorial where the topic is explained in a language suited for beginners. If you have a specific question, you come to this forum where those who answer expect that you at least know what you are asking. And if you don't understand an answer you can ask for clarification. So, the more learning tools the better, but I wonder what form this would/could take. A tutorial supplemented with a Q/A section? Or a Q/A section that makes reference to relevant tutorial sections? I hope others will join in with more thoughts.

Re: new forum for science beginners

I guess we can't have tutorials for everything. A Q&A section sounds more realistic with the resources we have available.

Re: new forum for science beginners

Well, times do change, as do the capabilities and desires of our staff and members. And I wouldn't say it got dumped, it just didn't get much attention.
