God

God is a supernatural being and therefore does not exist. Now what is the point of a theology forum?

Your first two words (God IS) presupposes that he/she does exist. Not a good tactic, unless you're going for a reductio ad absurdum, starting with a hypothesis and showing that it leads to a logical fallacy

The religious types don't have things any easier. Googling "Proof of God" brings up a load of Intelligent Design sites. I've had some fine arguments with these people in the past: "the human spine is designed to be horizontal, not vertical. Hence all the back pain in the world. Intelligent??"; "the human foot is clearly a distorted and misshapen hand. Why toenails?"; "the light-sensitive side of the retina faces away from the light, reducing visual acuity by an unknown but undoubtedly large factor. Would an intelligent designer make such a stupid mistake in so important a subsystem?"

The point of a theology forum, imho, is to thrash out these matters, preferably without thrashing each other.

Theology:
Quote:
Theology is the study of God from a religious perspective. It has been commonly defined as reasoned discourse about God or the gods, or more generally about religion or spirituality. It can be contrasted with religious studies, which is the study of religion from a secular perspective.
Theology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

But if you read what it says in the description of the Theology forum, it says "Discussion about religion and the study of it."

Since the site rules require claims to be backed up, IMHO it seems unreasonable to expect that a claim to knowledge about god would go unchallenged.

Re: God

Likewise, no definite proof of god not existing is possible, as you can't prove a negative.
Many people believe that god doesn't exist. Many people believe god does exist.
Organized religion also attempts to describe the 'one true god' that exists. In all of these opinions there is great room for discussion.

I think Donk said it very well:
