| Thinking | Paradigm Trap I've noticed that in threads, that two schools seem to develop and one ignores the existance of the other, going off on their own private tangents in a kind of clubist elite or class warfare. This coincided with a post I put in weird theories about a UFO incident I experienced, where some school friends including a cousin of mine, totally ignored the existence of this strange craft in the sky. This led me to think of The Matrix and Morpheus's speech to Neo about how people are trapped in the ordinary world because they are trying to ignore the unpleasant realities of life (The cult of perfectionism/ Snobbery with violence/ The Emperors New Clothes Syndrome - only a fool who's fooling himself, can fool another fool/ Patrick McGoohans 'The Prisoner' - individual freedom versus collective slavery to a cause). Is any one else aware of this state and want to join the escape committee? (Free your mind through Zen 'non-sense' (unpredictabilty/humour) - nothing makes sense and every-thing doesn't or enslave your body by believing in the illusion?). | |

| Slaying Bad Memes | Re: Paradigm Trap I was hoping you were presenting blueprints for a device that would trap paradigms. {sigh} I am personally aware that it is easy (under some circumstances) to "fool myself", so that (for a moment at least) it appears that I can see around the curtains and props of reality and get a glimpse of The Substructure. {heavy organ chords played here} But I always find sufficient evidence that I was fooling myself--which can be entertaining in a way, I suppose, but I don't want to live like that. The Substructure is, after all, a fantasy or a misinterpretation. ---------------- Hypography Forums Moderator -- - - - - - What concerns me is not the way things are, but rather the way people think things are. | Thinking | Re: Paradigm Trap The purpose of this post is to point out how in our quest for certainty (safety/ wealth/ status etc) we lose spirituality (companionship) and enter a selfish, limited world of our own: The Scrooge complex. A society works on trust between its members, just as a body does. When this trust flounders; the organism/ society/ the individual collapses (dissolves into its constituent parts and chaos rules). Spirituality is actuality 'nothing' (no-thing)that is the glue that holds everything together - without it we drift apart in disbelief (I'm not pro-religion, just pointing out why it exists i.e. its purpose in society). As somebody said 'It's the law of the universe we should be following, not the lord (another being) - Go(o)d or moral law. What makes a criminal is lack of trust, so existential panic i.e. the belief that the universe has no reason to deliver, so won't (violence)is inevitable as is stealing rather than asking (exchange): I could give to you but what guarantee have I that you'll give back? | |
