We now have the ability to display YouTube videos and other media in posts. Simply post the URL to the video in question and it will be replaced with the required code.

We support the following sources for now:

YouTube
MySpace TV
Google Video
Bolt
iFilm
Meta Cafe
Yahoo Video
Daily Motion
Amazon items

NOTE: The automatic display will NOT work with the "Quick Reply" box. You need to use the standard Reply form, and make sure that the options for "Automatically embed media" and "Automatically retrieve titles" are enabled (these are located below the form under "Additional options").

If you want to see other formats supported, post a request in this thread and I'll see what I can do.

Also please post any problems you may be having.

Look here for an example:

Re: How to: Post YouTube and media

Whoa.

But there remains the problem of 'slow internet'.
Will be able to 'not' be able to see the videos in the posts by selecting that option in the user CP?

I don't understand the question - nobody is forcing you to watch the movies?

I didn't know there was an option in the UserCP either.

Re: How to: Post YouTube and media

By option I meant the kind on option there is for not seeing images in the posts.

I'm saying that the example page doesn't open from where I sit. I presume that it's because of the slow internet.

Re: How to: Post YouTube and media

Okay mate. It does take a little bit of time to download the images, presumably because YouTube has a menu built in etc.

No, I don't think turning off pictures will help you.

What browser are you on?

Re: How to: Post YouTube and media

Okay, let's just hang in there and I'll see if there are any known bugs with IE6.

Re: How to: Post YouTube and media

I need someone with IE6 to test this link:

It works fine in all other browsers that I have tested, but I don't have IE6.

Re: How to: Post YouTube and media

pretty sure the page will load by itself but wont automatically load the video - you have to press play to make that work
