| | We had a user level contest a while back, which pgrmdave won. We have now implemented the new user levels, with an automatic promotion system which gives you more access to different features at Hypography as your postcount goes up.
Note that members who are currently in Level 0 will keep their avatars and signatures but cannot change them until they reach 10 posts.
Here is an explanation for how our user levels are built up, and what the perks of the different levels are: Level 0: New members
User title: Curious
No signatures
Cannot upload attachments (but can view others' attachments)
Can use built-in avatars (not custom ones)
Can send up to 5 Private Messages
Can vote in polls
Cannot use reputation Level 1: 10 posts
User title: Thinking
Can use signature
Can have member groups (which means you can sign up for our editorial team etc)
Can upload attachments, file limit 200Kb (total)
Can post polls
Can use custom avatar: 80x80 pixels, 20Kb filesize
Can upload profile picture: 100x100, 20Kb filesize
Private message storage: 50
Can send PM to one member at a time
Can post, edit, and delete own events on the calendar
Can view others' events on calendar
Can leave negative reputation Level 2: 100 posts
User title: Questioning
All of the Level 1 perks plus
Attachment filesize: 500Kb (total)
Avatar filesize: 30Kb
Profile picture: 150x150 pixles, 30Kb filesize
Private message storage: 100
Can use message tracking (meaning you can request "message read" notices)
Can send PM to up to 3 members at a time Level 3: 250 posts
User title: Understanding
All of the Level 1 and 2 perks plus
Attachment filesize: 1Mb (total)
Avatar filesize: 40Kb
Profile picture: 150x150 pixles, 40Kb filesize
Private message storage: 200
Can send PM to up to 5 members at a time
Can view user notes about self (that others have posted) Level 4: 500 posts
User title: Explaining
All of the Level 1, 2, and 3 perks plus
Can see users who have chosen to be invisible
Attachment filesize: 4Mb (total)
Avatar filesize: 45Kb
Profile picture: 200x200 pixles, 45Kb filesize
Private message storage: 300
Can send PM to up to 5 members at a time
Can view user notes about self (that others have posted)
Can post user notes about self and others Level 5: 1000 posts
User title: Creating
User name color: Black (note - to get this color, go to your UserCP -> Miscellaneous -> Group Memberships and locate the Posting Level 5, then choose "Identify me as a member of this group")
All of the Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 perks plus
Can set self to invisible mode
Can see users who have chosen to be invisible
Can use custom title (ie, replace "Creating" with your own choice of title)*
Attachment filesize: 6Mb (total)
Avatar filesize: 50Kb
Profile picture: 300x300 pixles, 50Kb filesize
Private message storage: 400
Can send PM to up to 5 members at a time
Can view user notes about self (that others have posted)
Can post user notes about self and others
*note: Custom user title cannot include "Resident", "Moderator", "Editor", "Developer" or other reserved words.
These levels will change over time to reflect the growth of the forums. Additional higher levels will eventually be necessary.
Moderators, Junior moderators, and admins also follow the user levels, but have more "back end" allowances in order to do their job here at Hypography. Admins have bold red user names, moderators have green, junior mods have cyan.
