Welcome posts are as important as other posts! And the entire point of the welcome thread is to let new members get 1 post so they can be elevated to full member status.
I think the "welcome to Hypography" posts from old members are very valuable.

It makes people feel welcome, and gives them a response to their very first thread here!
And, anyway, it would probably be too much hacing involved to remove the post count for full members in that forum.
