Hypo's favorite IPA - Cast your vote

What is your favorite India Pale Ale (IPA)?

You know what to do.

I've made this multiple choice, but, please, do try to limit it to one or two.

India Pale Ale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
The creation of India Pale Ale (IPA) during the early 1700s was the result of tremendous efforts by British brewers to overcome a difficult problem: during the 1700s beer did not keep well on long ocean voyages, especially into hot climates. These hot environments resulted in the arrival of flat, sour beer. Before refrigeration and pasteurization, the brewer's only weapons against spoilage were alcohol and hops. Alcohol provided an unfriendly environment for microbes and the hops prevented the growth of the bacteria that cause sourness. Therefore high alcohol content and high hopping rates could protect beer from the souring associated with long storage times.

Re: Hypo's favorite IPA - Cast your vote

I voted for Sierra Nevada and Anchor Liberty. I'm assuming the Anchor Liberty means Anchor Steam Liberty.

Voted Other, Not sure if this classifies as IPA or not. All four of their brews are excellent!

Harbor Lighthouse Ale from

The last time I picked some up, it went for 52 american, for 12 x 22oz bottles.
The soda syrups are also excellent!

Are Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale really India Pale Ales?

I don't have a fave yet. I only started drinking IPA's a while back and I get a 6-pack of whatever once-a-month if I'm lucky so I buy something different each time. None of those names on the poll ring a bell. Will report in next month. Love the IPA!!!

HI FREEZTAR!!

I guess it's open for interpretation. There are many pale ales, and IPA is a subset of that group, however, I suggest that Anchor and Sierra Nevada are hoppy enough to make the cut.
