| Resident Slayer | Buy an iPodTouch? So, are y'all gonna buy an iPod Touch? I thought I'd run out and get one until I found out that the disks available on them are ONE TENTH the size of what's now called the iPodClassic... I don't like the look of the new Nanos either, funny shape and I have no need for the video screen since I just use it for running - and podcasts while commuting... | Creating | Re: Buy an iPodTouch? If I didn't already have am iPhone, and didn't use a cell, I would buy one. My iPod has never gone over 1000 songs which means the smaller drive would be sufficient for me. ---------------- "Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents; it was loaned to you by your children. | Creating | I’m not going to buy an iPodTouch, or any other iPod, because both my PDA (a Palm TX) and my mobile phone (a Samsung a900 forced upon me by my employer) let me easily carry all the sound and video I want. As long as my daily life continues to allow me to keep reasonably dry (none of my personal electronics are waterproof), I’m fine. Nonetheless, I think the design of the iPodTouch is brilliant. Separating the display and touch functions of a “touchscreen” device by putting them on different sides of the box is an amazing intuitive leap I’d have never thought of, or imagined would work. While I don’t plan to buy one, I’m itching to get my fingers on one and play with it, just to see how well it actually does.Touchscreen accuracy problem is one of the routine discomforts of my existence. Even after a decade of buying and using them, I’ve yet to have one that approached the accuracy and versatility of paper and pencil. My TX is expecially troublesome, requiring periodic disassembly to clean out the smegma that accumulates between the screen and case, making it point so inaccurately that places on the screen are off by more than a full line. iPod and iPhone touch technology don’t currently meet my needs (I gotta be able to sketch with better than finger-painting resolution ), but I’m hopeful that one of these days, the bright folk behind these products will sell something that does.---------------- Moderator: Computers and Technology; Medical Science; Science Projects and Homework; Philosophy of Science; Physics and Mathematics; Environmental Studies ![]() | |
