Did you know?

I have long wondered, in an ever changing, ever shifting, landscape how can one learn the things one needs to adapt? At the current rate of our culture's evolution, things long thought impossible will become not only possible but simple.

Incidentally, did you know that if the number of people (2,463,285) who watched the original "Did You Know?", assuming they watched it to it's conclusion (6 mins 5 sec), collectively they used up 28.5 years of time?

Re: Did you know?

Great video..must watch for bureaucrats, educationists, people's representatives.
The adaptation to this exponential acceleration of human experience is the key for the future generations. The information revolution is improving means and mechanisms of delivery.
Its wonderful to search. I command and a million pages are before me.
But the key is how does one use the information. How does one process this information for achievement of personal or social goals?
If we club the underpriveleged kids without education (in the "developing world"),they could also be ranked as a country.Stats always don't show the real picture.
The work ahead is enormous and its successful implementation depends on the complex interplay of socio-political realities, leadership and the markets. The change is beginning to happen and there is no doubt about its benefits.

The intelligent use of information to better our lives, thorugh improving the efficiency of public systems is the concept that should gain leadership especially in the developing countries. The 21st century generation is at a vantage point to gain the benefits of this revolution. They should be nurtured for the evolution of a better society and a better tomorrow. The implementation of universal education in the poorer countries would create an intelligent generation who would make intelligent choices for themselves and their societies.
Therefore a strong (elementary and highschool) educational foundation for every little citizen is what ultimately matters(for development of an analytical framework). The market and user friendly gadgets would certainly facilitate strenghtening of this foundation (3 R's) and provide better access to information, but the focus should be on conceptual learning and instilling discipline.
Computers could also replace teachers and drive the whole point in an interactive and entertaining way.But how can one use this information power to direct the child worker to school or convince his or her parents?

Re: Did you know?

They've updated it for the year 2008. I figured while I'm doing maintenance, I'll post this here for anyone still interested in education and progress.

I'm fascinated by the jump in magnitude for google searches: 2.7 billion to about 20 times that.
